Skin in Hyderabad specifically
Hyderabad is close enough to Karachi that people assume the two share a climate, and they do not. Humidity here runs substantially lower, temperatures run higher, and the famous wind carries dust rather than sea air.
The practical consequence is that a Karachi routine frequently fails in Hyderabad within a week or two. Gel moisturisers that suit the coast are usually not enough here, and the light textures that prevent fungal congestion on the coast leave skin tight and dehydrated inland.
If you have moved between the two cities recently and your skin changed without your routine changing, the climate is the explanation rather than anything you are using.
Skin in the Sindh interior
What this zone does to skin
Same province as the coast, very different climate, and the routines that suit Karachi frequently do not suit here.
Inland Sindh is hot and dry rather than hot and humid. Summer temperatures are extreme, humidity is moderate to low, and dust is a constant rather than an occasional feature. Some of the highest temperatures recorded anywhere in the country occur in this zone.
The dominant skin problem is water loss compounded by mechanical irritation from dust. Where the coast produces fungal congestion, this zone produces dehydration, tightness and dust-related breakouts.
The heat itself, separately from UV
Sustained high temperature drives sweat, and sweat left to dry on the skin leaves salt and irritation. It also aggravates melasma directly, because pigmentation responds to heat and visible light rather than to ultraviolet alone. Anyone here managing pigmentation is fighting the temperature as much as the sun.
What actually helps
- Hydrate the skin properly, then seal it. A humectant on its own in dry air can pull water out of the skin. The occlusive step is not optional here
- Rinse after dust exposure, do not scrub. The dust has already irritated the surface mechanically
- Sunscreen, reapplied through the day. Single morning application does not hold in this heat
- Keep the routine short in peak summer. Gentle cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen. Actives in the cooler months
- Pay attention to the neck and the backs of the hands, which take more accumulated sun here than people expect and are the first places to show it
- Cool the skin before treating it. Applying actives to hot, recently sweating skin increases irritation
What to expect through the season
May to September is the difficult period, and dehydration is the main problem throughout. November to February is comfortable and is the right window for introducing retinoids or acids.
Why the coastal routine does not transfer
People move between Karachi and inland Sindh constantly, and bring their routine with them. It rarely works in either direction.
The coast needs light textures because humidity and sweat feed fungal folliculitis. Inland needs richer occlusives because the air pulls water out of the skin. Someone arriving from Karachi with a gel moisturiser will find it stops being enough within a week, and someone arriving from Sukkur with a heavy cream will break out along the hairline within a fortnight.
Same province, opposite problems. If you have moved recently and your skin changed without your routine changing, that is almost certainly why.
